When Starz unveiled American Gods at San Diego Comic-Con 2016, the energy in the room was electric. As thousands of passionate fans packed the monstrous ballroom, their excitement was palpable, their cheers deafening—this was more than just a panel; it was a full-blown pop culture event.
As part of the production team, I was asked to read Neil Gaiman’s original novel and work closely with the cast to coach them on spoken and creative content ahead of the big reveal. Seeing the actors step into their roles—not just on-screen but in front of a live audience, for the first time ever—was a thrilling experience. The synergy between the panelists and the fans was nothing short of mesmerizing, and being there to witness it firsthand was an adrenaline rush like no other.
This event wasn’t just about announcing a new show; it was about bringing a beloved story to life for an audience that had been waiting for years. Watching their reactions—laughter, gasps, and even tears—was a reminder of the power of storytelling and why I love what I do.
