This was my first collaboration with the San Francisco Gay Mens Chorus, celebrating their 41st season of creating music with powerful messages to audiences across the world.
I was responsible for live musical programming throughout the evening, which included performances by Stephen Schwartz, Andrew Lippa, and an historical musical video message from the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, thanking the Chorus for all of the acts of kindness they perform for people all over the world. I also created a partnership between each of the Chorus's nonprofit offerings and the Kristin Chenoweth Arts and Education Fund.
Funds raised at the gala supported two youth-oriented programs, RHYTHM: Reaching Youth Through Music and It Gets Better. SFGMC launched the youth education program RHYTHM to bring a message of anti-bullying and acceptance through music, personal stories, and experiences. In 2019 SFGMC worked in collaboration with the It Gets Better Project and Speak Theater Arts to launch a It Gets Better Tour, whose core mission to reduce suicide amongst LGBTQ youth. Through the power of music, both programs encourage LGBTQ youth to live authentically and celebrate their uniqueness.
