Broadway has always been a place where magic is made as voices belt to the top of their ranges, stories unfold before live audiences, and artistry reaches its pinnacle a whopping eight times a week. Kristin Chenoweth: For the Girls was no exception—a dazzling, heartfelt tribute to the women who sing the soundtrack of our lives, led by the incomparable Kristin Chenoweth. Premiering at the historic Nederlander Theatre for a limited engagement from November 8 to November 17, 2019, this electrifying concert event paid homage to the legendary female artists who paved the way for generations to come.

As Creative Director, I had the honor of helping to shape this Broadway spectacle, ensuring that every element—from the stunning vocals to the visual storytelling—reflected the power, elegance, and spirit of the women who inspired the show. Produced by the esteemed James L. Nederlander, with breathtaking costumes by Christian Siriano (his second time costuming for one of our concert residencies on Broadway!), For the Girls was more than just a concert—it was a celebration of music, resilience, and the unbreakable legacy of female artistry.

I was fortunate to have my partner Logan Malone (of Rihanna fame) as my art director on this project. We make a pretty solid team. Plus, our dog Clyde was at the photoshoot (see photo below!).

The setlist was a love letter to generations of trailblazing women, featuring powerful interpretations of classics made famous by icons such as Barbra Streisand, Dolly Parton, Judy Garland, and Carole King. With Kristin’s signature wit, warmth, and unparalleled vocal prowess, each performance was infused with both personal storytelling and an undeniable reverence for the music that shaped her career.

From the opening number to the final encore, For the Girls was a masterclass in showmanship, delivering eight unforgettable nights of powerhouse vocals, emotional depth, and Broadway brilliance. Being part of this production was a privilege—a chance to help bring to life a musical tribute that honored the past, celebrated the present, and inspired the future.
